Pronunciation & Tones (6 points)

Level	Points	Description
Excellent	5-6	Tones are consistently accurate; pronunciation is clear and understandable; minimal errors that don't impede communication
Good	3-4	Tones are generally accurate with occasional errors; pronunciation is mostly clear; some errors but meaning is still conveyed
Developing	1-2	Frequent tone errors that sometimes impede understanding; pronunciation needs improvement; communicates basic ideas despite errors
Needs Work	0	Tone accuracy is lacking; pronunciation unclear; difficult to understand even with context

Vocabulary & Grammar (5 points)

Excellent	4-5	Uses rich, varied vocabulary; grammatical structures are accurate and varied; minimal errors
Good	3	Uses adequate vocabulary; basic grammatical structures are used correctly; some errors that don't impede communication
Developing	1-2	Limited vocabulary; simple structures with frequent errors; meaning is conveyed with difficulty
Needs Work	0	Very limited vocabulary; many grammatical errors; unable to convey meaning effectively

Fluency & Confidence (4 points)

Level	Points	Description
Excellent	4	Speaks smoothly with natural pauses; confident delivery; good eye contact; minimal reliance on notes
Good	3	Generally fluent with some hesitation; reasonably confident; some reliance on notes
Developing	2	Frequent pauses and hesitation; appears nervous; heavy reliance on notes
Needs Work	0-1	Very halting delivery; lacks confidence; reads entirely from notes

Content & Organization (3 points) + Time Management (2 points)

Content (3 pts): Well-organized with all required elements = 3 | Organized, most elements = 2 | Some missing = 1 | Many missing = 0
Time (2 pts): 4-6 minutes = 2 | 3-4 or 6-7 minutes = 1 | Under 3 or over 7 = 0

Needs Work	0	Little to no comprehension; cannot respond appropriately even with repetition

Content & Completeness (5 pts): All elements + rich detail = 4-5 | All elements, adequate = 3 | Some missing = 1-2 | Many missing = 0
Vocabulary & Grammar (5 pts): Varied vocabulary, correct grammar = 4-5 | Adequate, mostly correct = 3 | Limited, frequent errors = 1-2 | Very limited, many errors = 0
Tones & Orthography (3 pts): Consistently correct = 3 | Mostly correct = 2 | Frequent errors = 1 | Many errors = 0
Organization (2 pts): Well-organized = 2 | Somewhat = 1 | Disorganized = 0

4. Listening Comprehension Rubric 15 points

Following Directions (3 points)

3 pts: Answered all questions, followed all instructions
2 pts: Answered most, minor errors
1 pt: Missing several answers
0 pts: Many unanswered, didn't follow instructions

Active Participation Levels

Excellent	7-8	Consistently volunteers; actively participates in all activities; engages with pairs/groups; takes risks speaking Vietnamese
Good	5-6	Frequently participates; engages in most activities; contributes to pair/group work
Developing	3-4	Sometimes participates when called on; minimal voluntary contributions; adequate group work
Needs Work	0-2	Rarely participates; passive in activities; does not contribute to pair/group work

6. Homework & Weekly Quiz Rubric 25 points

Assessment: Ongoing

Weekly Quiz Performance (15 points total)

Average of all weekly quizzes (typically 10-12 quizzes)

Convert quiz scores to percentage
Percentage × 15 = points earned
Example: Average quiz score 85% → 0.85 × 15 = 12.75 points

Homework Completion & Quality (10 points total)

Excellent	2	Complete, thorough, on time; demonstrates effort and understanding
Good	1.5	Complete, on time; adequate effort
Developing	1	Incomplete or late; minimal effort
Needs Work	0-0.5	Missing, very late, or insufficient effort

Calculate: Average homework score × 5 = final homework points

Reading Comprehension (4 points)

Short passage (8-10 sentences) with 4 comprehension questions @ 1 point each

Writing Task (5 points)

Task: Describe your daily routine (8-10 sentences)

Vocabulary (2 pts) + Grammar (2 pts) + Tones (1 pt)
