Regional Accents
Vietnamese has three main regional accents:
- Northern (Hà Nội) - Standard Vietnamese, 6 distinct tones, keeps 'd' and 'gi' sounds separate
- Central (Huế) - More melodic, some tone merging, unique vocabulary
- Southern (Sài Gòn) - 5 tones (merges some tones), 'd' and 'gi' both sound like 'y', softer pronunciation
Note: Most TTS voices use Northern pronunciation. If multiple Vietnamese voices are available, try different ones to hear variations.
